Pajama Day

Aren't we cute? It was sure fun to wear our pajamas to school for Pajama Day today. Mid-Prairie is celebrating their homecoming this week and Pajama Day was the first of the dress up days this week. Stay tuned for more fun photos this week.

Happy Birthday to "The Star Spangled Banner"

The National Anthem is 196 years old today. In honor of this occasion, under the direction of Mrs. Ropp, the first graders as well as the rest of the students at Washington Township went outside and stood around the flagpole to sing "The Star Spangled Banner". We also sang a student favorite......"God Bless America".

Working in Small Groups

This week we started working in small groups of four or five instead of working in partners. We are still working on the same small group rules......
1. Use a 12 inch voice.
2. Be polite.
3. Take turns.
4. Share materials.
5. Stay in your own bubble.

Top-It has been a popular game in first grade this year.

Meet Mr. Brown

Mr. Brown is our new Chinese teacher. He comes into our classroom on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:15-10:40. We have been reviewing all of the things we learned last year and also learning some new things. Mr. Brown makes learning Chinese fun.

Playing Top-It

In math this week we started working in small groups. Here we are playing Top-It. We set some ground rules or guide lines for small group work. These are:

  1. Use a 12-inch voice.
  2. Be polite.
  3. Take turns.
  4. Share materials.
  5. Stay in your own bubble.

I am happy to say the children did a great job whenever we worked in groups this week.
